Sew Exciting!

Pardon the pun... I am giddy!

This week I started learning how to sew. On Monday and Tuesday nights I took a basic sewing class {a birthday gift from the professor's parents}.

Look what I made... this darling blue and white playsuit! At times it was tricky but my teacher was wonderful, and I had so much fun. What a feeling of accomplishment to see the finished product!

On Wednesday I pulled the secondhand singer {a 30+ year-old Fashion Mate} out of the attic and read the manual.

Then, going step-by-step, I wound a bobbin! {Isn't that Creme de Menthe thread delicious?}

My mother-in-law stopped by and walked me through the steps of threading the old girl. Now we're in business, at least temporarily, she needs a tune-up.

On Thursday I put together this little tea towel apron as a birthday gift for Boo's friend Betsy. This time around I didn't use iron-on adhesive... I sewed it!

I am excited... thrilled... and oh so happy. This is fun! Maybe over the weekend I'll tackle a real pillowcase apron. And soon, I'd like to do another playsuit, just to make sure the process is ingrained in my mind.

Oh the possibilities!

Impressive! Congrats. So much joy in creating, isn't there? We ARE like Him, aren't we, in so many ways? :-)

Great job! Pajamas for the boys are an easy next project to keep in mind. You would be practicing the same skills you learned on the playsuit.

I used to love sewing. You are going to have so much fun with this! It was a wonderful gift from your in laws.

Oh my goodness! I am totally impressed! Girl, you jump right in don't ya? WOW! Totally impressed! You are encouraging me that maybe I could jump in there to and try sewing out myself.
Love what you made!

So cute!

Any plans for making Christmas gifts this year or does that sound a bit daunting at this point?

Absolutely fantastic!!! I don't know if I'm more impressed by how wonderfully your items came out or that you could wind a bobbin, LOL! Seriously, I want to learn to sew. I sit there and sit there and try to figure out the manual, have my seamstress-esque mother tell me what to do...and then all of a sudden I'm wound up in thread and I realize that none of the stitches went through. Ahhh, the life of a Glue Gun Queen!

I can't wait to see more projects!
