Vintage Silver

My mother has long had a love affair with silver flatware, and she has seen to it that her daughters are beautifully outfitted. Every time I bring out my collection to use for a party or a special meal I fall in love with it all over again. Yes, I do believe that I am well on my way to a love affair of my own... it's in the genes.

My father adores antique silver ware and I spent a lot of time as a child visiting antique shops and subconsciously absorbing the knowledge.

Nice shot, MG! I love my vintage set, too. It is special because WT brought it back from Russia. I spent a long time polishing it up before the holidays. I only use it a few times a year and always forget how much I do love it.

What pattern is that and who made it? It reminds me of an old Oneida pattern. I have a fascination with all kinds of flatware. ;D Just ask anyone who has ever had me over for dinner.

Modgirl, you would love seeing my mother's table set for a special occasion; pink depression glass and gold flatware....or maybe her mother's china with spring flowers, embroidered table cloths with the silver serving dishes.

Your silver is lovely. I am encouraged by all the young women who still embrace the old fashioned art of homemaking.

It's so elegant--probably not a chore to polish it, because it's so lovely!

The pattern is, Reed & Barton, 1953, "Dresden Rose"... in case you're wondering!
