Boys and Dirt

While I washed the car, Big Brother made mud for Little Brother.
He's good at operating the hose.

It was red clay mud to be exact.
The stuff does not wash out and hardly washes off.

Little Brother happily played in it for a very long time.
He's good at that.

After a bath his lily white skin was still stained.
Good thing a certain pair of shorts were already orange!

The following morning I found the dump truck in his bed!
Boys will be boys... and that's all I have to say about that.

I love this! Sweet, precious boys! I remember a time when my cousins and I built a miniature fort out of dirt, pebbles and twigs to drive cars and things around in. We were probably about as dirty. Fun memory!

Also, love your smore post. :) I just made coke floats for us. :) It was a tough day at school. I needed a treat. :)

I know - it DOESN'T wash out. Ever! I hope the sheets weren't mud-stained.

(I'm glad you reopened comments.)

I'm so glad you opened the comments. I was wanting to ask you what the reflection in the oven was of (yes, bad grammar...yes, real speech).

Yea, comments! I've so missed the two way interaction!

Wow...that is something about the red clay. I didn't realize it stained like that! But you do need mud to play appropriately with a dump truck! :)

I'm also loving the new kitchen as it is coming along! And when you said you were doing subway tile, I said to myself, "Why am I not surprised!" That will look great!

This reminds me of a time when I washed my car and my son played with water on the floor of our garage. He stripped down to his birthday suit and was lying on the garage floor. Too funny about your son taking the truck to bed. Boys are a joy!

Awww, you guys are great! What fun to see your faces around here again.

Karen -- Yes, my time of quietness was very needed and very refreshing. I was able to realign some priorities and think without much distraction. Thank you for your support and understanding while I took a "breather."

aSprinkling -- Hi! The reflection in the oven door window is actually the bottom shelf of the stainless steel work table that we use as an island in our kitchen. On its low shelf I keep a stack of favorite cookbooks (what you see), a stack of colorful picnic table cloths, and my big Le Creuset Dutch ovens.

I'm inclined!

Love your boys. Good thing you live in a town that values its orange clothing.

Oh, yea! I was just wishing I could comment on the utterly delicious and smooth belly hanging over the play shorts.

Lovely, lovely set of photos.

I so enjoy your photos. The joys of having little boys. My son is not yet old enough for mud, but it will come. Hope the bed wasn't too dirty.
