As stated by the professor this morning...
Babe, we've got a problem... I need to go to Home Depot to buy a small sledge hammer... Now, all I have to do is learn how to sweat pipes then I should be able to fix it.
Turns out the toilet in our master bathroom that we thought was simply dying a slow death was actually dying a slow, leaky death.
The professor discovered the rotten walls {under three layers of dated wallpaper} this morning.
A few weeks ago, soon after we finished the kitchen renovations, we took a hard look at finances and decided that despite our desire to press forward and begin bathroom renovations we should wait until after the new year giving ourselves some time to prepare financially.
Sometimes life... things like leaky potties and rotten drywall... make our decisions for us.
It's official as of today, bathroom renovations have begun.

I'm stripping wallpaper, too! Although, it's just wallpaper and no rotten walls or leaking pipes. Sounds like "Murph" has come to pay you a visit! :)
Kind of bad news and good news all rolled into one!
Hope the renovations go smoothly and ...without more surprises!
ps-we highly recommend the "gorilla bar" for some serious demolition power. It's a very manly crowbar.
Ooo, messy, messy!
Oh dear!
My dad just took out our old dishwasher and put in a new one today!

Oh dear! SO SORRY! Well, guess your new bathroom will appear before the New Year whether you want it or not!
I read the word sledge hammer and thought, "UH OH!!!"
Bummer. But a new bathroom!!!
oof. just finished my own bathroom renovation, so i know what's in store for you! but, yay... shiny, new bathroom! i loved picking out new fixtures and tile. :D
Poor Mod family! I hope this renovation can be dispatched more quickly than the kitchen. Been there, done that though.
Our master bathroom potty has been a bit squishy sounding under the vinyl flooring ever since my old dad was visiting. I'm afraid of what we might find under that flooring, but I know it's gotta be a leak.
Seeing your pictures here settles it... guess what we're doing today?!
Thanks for the encouragement. This, too, shall pass, right?
I know this is a weird request, but would you consider posting pictures of your old wall paper that was discovered in the demolition? I'm an old house geek, and love looking at the hideous/lovely designs people have used for wallpaper over the years.
Oh my. Sometimes Providence doesn't work the way we expect...
I hope it's all fixed up now!
I am laughing. But oh, how I feel your pain.
