The professor visited the university's surplus property sale this morning.
On this day it seems he has found a walnut mod'ish club chair for ten dollars.
This news caused me take a mental inventory of all the secondhand, mod'ish furniture in our house...
Ninety-nine percent of it, to be exact, is of the "rescued" variety. Not bad.
I think we may have acquired a "new" chair today... upholstered in green wool.
Well, at least the color will suit the holiday season!
{Pictured... Lengthening shadows and the black fiberglass Eames chair in our living room. The acquisition of this particular chair involved a dumpster and my furniture-loving husband.}
And there you have it... some not-so-glamorous glimpses of our {secondhand} mod'ish life.

I'd dive in a dumpster for that chair myself! :)
love it! Can't wait to see the new acquisitions. :) I have a bookshelf pictured here: http://sundrenchedmoments.blogspot.com/2008/12/family.html
that wasn't actually *in* the dumpster, someone had kindly set it inside the dumpster enclosure but *beside* the dumpster and I rescued it, missing leg and all. :) Kelly
Hey, I've gotten some great items out of the trash. It was my parents trash, but all the same...
so cool! we've done our share of dumpster diving. rock on! :)
I love rescued furniture. They always seem so grateful to be brought into a loving family.
