Tinkering

It was Saturday morning. The seven year old clearly needed something, anything on which to focus. The professor gave him an old broken vacuum cleaner and told him to take it apart. It took some time but he did it. Every little boy should tinker from time to time.

Yes, boys should tinker. They learn how to fix things in your house that way. Which is so nice later in life.

This is a FABULOUS idea. Why don't I have an entire box of non-working appliances for my kids to tinker with!?!

LOVE that idea. Someone let my boys take apart an old alarm clock. I think some of the pieces are still in one of their closets.

That is a great idea - its just a matter of making sure that they don't take working things apart (unless they can be put back together)!

Does he know Mr.Fix-it from the Richard Scarry books? Taylor LOVED him and had to BE him around the house! :)

He may grow up to be an engineer if he loves tinkering.

Oh, such kindred spirits our boys would be. Can you imagine all that they could dream up together??

amen! Can he bring his screwdriver to my classroom? I have a lightswitch cover that has a screw coming loose and I just haven't hunted up a screwdriver to do something about it. Kelly
