A 5:20 a.m. alarm. I drag myself out of bed at 5:35. Breakfast cooked and consumed, lunches packed, where are your shoes, teeth brushed, backpack, out the door... I deliver big brother to school in a torrential monsoon.
And then, patches of blue.
Little brother and I drive an hour. Time spent with precious friends. The sun comes out, a new baby is held, laughter, and treats.
And then, back up the road... he naps. Carpool line, hello school boy, home, drinks and snacks.
So tired, so tired.
Still there is... dinner to prepare, laundry to finish, homework. I think I can, I think I can.
For a few moments I'll sit down quietly in the chair in the sun.

Let me pull up a chair beside you. Whew, I'm having that "I think I can" feeling a lot here lately...and that blasted alarm clock, too! :-)
I love those peaceful moments we can steal away for ourselves.
Wow..that is an early alarm! Ours goes off here at 7:15...boys out the door at 7:50. I pack lunches and set out breakfast the night before, though. I've always been thankful they aren't girls...no hair to fix or outfit to fuss over! ha.
If that moment was as peaceful as the photo looks, it must have been wonderful!
I really like this post. It sounded poetetic to me. And I love your Thonet. It makes me think of my childhood. I hope you get some good naps soon.
oh my. that pregnancy weariness. strength to you and many sunshiny chairs. . .
we've recently been reading "The Little Engine That Could" a lot here and i've been saying "i think i can" too. . .a good attitude changer for me.
oh i know! i know. Thank you God for weekends to refresh us. Amen. Kelly
Oh, you sweet dear. Yes. Sit for awhile.
The Bentwood rocker is just like the one I rocked Miss G in. Wonderful memories. Mine travelled backwards when I rocked. Does yours?
