After dinner and dishes, toy tidying and baths, Big Brother eagerly asks, "Can we read Narnia tonight?" And, that is our cue... when we pile on the couch and enter the land on the other side of the wardrobe.
What a wonderful evening. I read to my son every night, and was getting low on ideas. C. S. Lewis didn't even cross my mind. Thanks for the inspiration.
Margo -- Big Brother (age 7.5) is totally into it. Little Brother (just turned 4) seems to enjoy our reading time, but honestly I don't think he's really grasping the whole story. He focuses in on aspects of it, such as the talking animals, the snow, Father Christmas, but doesn't seem to be following the plot very well.
We have recently been listening to the Chronicles of Narnia on CD done by Focus on the Family Radio Theater. I highly recommend for a car trip (it got us to Iowa and back)!
How wonderful! Growing up, I had a friend who had a wardrobe in a spare room...and literally, you could move the coats to the side and there was a trap/secret door in the back that lead to a hidden room! The hidden room was built into the eaves of their home, so the walls sloped. It was so cool.
Noticing, delighting, creating, hoping, believing, living, learning, and enjoying a beautiful life... with faith. I'm loving my professor-husband and mothering my two little boys.

wonderful!
Beautiful! I think the professor needs this one framed!
Just like out our house. CS Lewis knows how to draw little boys in!I love that they truly get to use their imaginations.
Logan and Lola are reading through the Chronicles now, too! I have so enjoyed listening in on those stories I loved at her age.
So glad to have found your space here-- lovely and thought-provoking. I want to pull up a chair too-- can you believe I've never read Narnia?
What a wonderful picture! How well does your youngest follow along?
My parents read Narnia aloud to me when I was little and I am EAGERLY awaiting that time for my children too.
