Homework... commences reluctantly.
He missed an entire week of school because of the flu... that was on the heels of a three week Christmas break. Big Brother was lulled into a sleepy, slow-moving, vacation state of mind. Getting him back into the swing of school, and, specifically, focusing on classwork has been no small task of late.
This is what I am learning... something mothers of boys have been observing for centuries before me: Welcome them home happily, fill them with a hearty and pleasant snack, turn them loose outside for a minimum of an hour, preferably with a bike or a ball or a rake or a shovel... even if it's dreary and cold.
You will still encounter homework reluctance and a bit of squirming but the situation is greatly improved with fresh air and physical exertion.
This month let's "Celebrate the Boy". Dana and Rae are providing a month's worth of fun, boyish{!} tutorials designed for the little men in your life.

That hot chocolate looks yummy! By the way...how do you get your photos so large? I really like the size. If you can, please share! Thanks!
Well, I can't celebrate "the boy" (at least not one of my own, yet??), but I totally hear your sentiments. That snack and hour or so of play (and yes, even in the nasty, cold, etc) really makes all the difference!
Well, there I go again, posting as my husband...
poor guy, people will think he reads girly blogs! :-)
He totally thinks this next baby IS a boy, by the way...
oh yes, I totally agree with your philosophy and we haven't gotten to the homework part yet. I am a huge proponent of fresh air for EVERYTHING.
Reeves -- Regarding large photos, email me through my profile and I'll be happy to send some information your way.
Hey--I was just looking at "The Boy" series this week. Now if I only had time to try it all out. Are those ladies not so creative and out of control?
Oh, and I was also going to say...yes, us mothers of boys DO know what fresh air can do for them! Hubby always wishes he could do his study prep for his sermons on the mountain--about 15,000 ft. elevation, he thinks, would be most productive.
Those observations are so, so true.
Add in some hot chocolate and I'd say you are an all-star!
