I wasn't surprised when the boys requested to play in the sprinkler, but I was surprised when they asked me to drag out the purple plastic baby pool leftover from Big Brother's preschool days. "Surely they've outgrown this," I thought. Apparently not if it's part of a grand scheme for an obstacle course and then later becomes a bicycle helmet washing station {???}.
If a hose, a sprinkler, and a plastic wading pool will keep them happily busy for two hours while simultaneously expending copious amounts of energy and watering the lawn I'm happy to oblige.

As I look out my window at the hail, violently pounding down on the pavement, I am envious of your weather. What a fun activity for the kids, they sure look like they were having a blast!
We're actually planning on getting a little pool for my youngest, because wow, it's hot.
I heartily agree. We bought a $5 baby pool, and left it at the bottom of the slide with water running down the slide. They were in heaven. We've got water laws around here, though, so it was short-lived! ;)
It can't get better than that! At first I thought you were going to say that YOU sat in the baby pool...which is what I would have done! ha.
I don't think mine EVER outgrew the wading pool!
We have the same pool, only blue! My kids do a lot more than water stuff with it :)
I love your boys' creativity and wow, 2 hours!! Good for them and you.
Amen! Kelly
And water will continue to entertain them as they age. :) Last night was our last night of youth group for the school year, which meant that we armed the teenagers with small plastic buckets and a hose, which resulted in 1 1/2 of great fun, and two very soaked youth leaders. Not that the kids were any drier, though. Everyone went home wet and happy.
After raising four children who totally entertained themselves for hours and hours in the summer - I assure you that your Boys Club will take care of themselves. No school plus a little brother a year older equals hours of self entertainment, imagination and creativity! Take heart Modgirl, summer will strengthen the boys club.
Ahhh. I love watching kids in sprinklers and hear the squeals of delight.
Once we steadily pass the 50 degree mark around here (ugh!) I'll be right there with you!
