To save myself the madness of grocery shopping with three children in tow I've started doing my weekly Krogering at night after the darlings are peacefully tucked into bed. It works out quite nicely: the professor holds down the fort while I shop alone and then he helps me unload the car.
Last night, as I wandered the produce area, I was surprised to discover clementines on the shelf. I've always considered these splashy little guys to be winter-time guests, but I'll take them in summer too since they're willing to come.
We ate some this morning with our Pop Tarts {another spontaneous, late-night purchase... all part of a balanced breakfast, right?!}. The unexpected morning treats helped to bring smiles to teary faces facing yet another day of swimming lessons.

oh that shopping experience sounds blissful. As for the poptarts. I have a coupon and have sort of been trying to talk myself out of them but they sound so good! :) Kelly
Hmmmm...that late night shopping sounds really wonderful. Really wonderful. I put off going to the store until we have NOTHING left to eat! Because I dread it. Oh, how I dread going with all three. I am happy for you that you've found such a great way to fit that in, and have a little time to yourself. Sort of.
We're also in the throws of swimming lessons, only our meltdowns occur as we leave the pool.
Lovely photos. Your talent always inspires and encourages me.
I do late night shopping too! I LOVE shopping alone, so I'm grateful for the places that stay open late or all night. I like your new verb, "krogering"!
And I adore poptarts - I'll take them over candy any day.
Ugh, I was dragged year after year to swimming lessons and hated every minute of it! I still can't dive, can't do any real strokes to speak of, and only go in the ocean up to my knees. I even hate washing my hair, I think I must be part cat.
Pop Tarts, on the other hand, I like very much. I would probably take a swimming lesson today for a box of the chocolate ones with white frosting.
You know you're a mom when . . . grocery shopping alone is a treat! I relish solo shopping excursions. Paired with a latte from the drive thru coffee place and I'm a happy mama. Love your playmat, too!
What a wonderful shopping idea. It could save someone's life! (like yours!) hee.
I'm sure poptarts have vitamins added, just like cereal. :)
I seem to remember a little guy that didn't like those swim lessons last year! Awww.
Poor little people facing swimming lessons! I still remember with horror and trembling my swimming lessonsl.
Worst summer of my life as a child. But they'll live through it and beyond it. And I'm sure that their swimming instructor is not as sadistic as mine was!
Sounds like the perfect breakfast for a mom with a babe in the household. In fact, ANY food slapped in front of hungry faces seems laudable to me! Serve those pop tarts and clementines with pride.
(And don't you love having someone to help unload??)
