The professor loves nothing more than a good Saturday morning estate sale. Treasure-hunting among the belongings of those who are older {and perhaps quirkier} than himself never ceases to thrill him.
He was up bright and early this past weekend combing the classifieds while I was still lolling in bed in a state of semi-consciousness {mind you, I'd gotten up at 5 a.m. to feed my baby bird}. Grabbing baseball cap and a fresh shirt he said, "It looks like there's a good estate sale across town. It starts at 8:30. I'll take the boys."
My response went something like this, "Have fun. I wish I had an Ikea cinnamon roll for breakfast." Needless to say, Baby and I opted for beauty rest.

And, two nice prints of this abstract painting by Lamar Dodd, of University of Georgia fame.
Much to my delight, he also brought bakery fresh cinnamon rolls and scones for breakfast. What a man! All in all, the total for our new, old wall art was less than the total for my coveted breakfast treats... that's one sweet deal for everyone.

how does he do that?!! I never see good wall art for sale around here, much less affordable. I think your husband must have a special talent!
And sweet rolls for breakfast. My!
I'm not a big fan of abstract art and DEFINITELY not a fan of UGA (Go Tech!), but I do like the art simply because it's a marching band. So great!
The travel posters made my heart go pitter-patter! What a great find. And four year old boys are so deilghtful, aren't they?
I did not know Earl Thollander, but undoubtedly have enjoyed his illustrations, for they look so familiar! Thank you for the continuing education.

I love those prints. I am just amazed at the fact that he took the boys to an estate sale. Those things can get insane, and coralling boys stressful. What a very good Professor you have :)
What interesting travel posters! The Art Deco posters that show up on Antiques Roadshow occasionally are some of my favorite items...nothing is better than the thought of travel. Our dining room and living rooms walls, in fact, are decorated with pictures of places that we've been to - domestic and abroad. How I wish we were adding to their number again soon!
maybe it's b/c of i'm a uga alum (twice) but i swear it looks like the redcoat band marching through the crowds on the way to (perhaps tech's bobby DODD) stadium on gameday!
Natalie and aSprinkling -- Yep, you've nailed it. Most critics speculate that it is indeed a painting of the UGA marching band. Lamar Dodd also did some abstract paintings of the stadium.
oh how familiar that last paragraph was. We often spend more on our food treats than other things when we're out and about! :) All in all it sounds like a wonderful Saturday morning. The professor got some good treasures. Kelly
Wow, when I was a teenager I had an identical Mont St. Michel poster hanging in my bedroom for years. I don't know what ever happened to it but I'm sure it's gone now.
Gasp! Double Gasp! I'm all a-flutter over those prints! What a fantastic find!
And the sweet man taking the boys and bringing back pastries?? Triple-Quadruple Gasp!
I LOVE the travel posters! I'm green with envy. : )
Wow! Those are great finds, I'm a little envious because they would look great on MY wall.
