Maple Trees and Wind

As we headed out the door this morning {our first truly crisp autumn morning} Little Brother exclaimed, "Mommy, I like fall. It feels good and it smells good. It smells like maple trees and wind."

I couldn't have described it better myself.

Would that he could see our maple trees in New England...just beginning their amazing color change. The shade of red is breathtaking.

Yesterday afternoon I ran some errands and soaked up the maple trees and windness of it all. I hope our leaves turn a color besides brown this year. We finally got a good soak, so maybe there is hope on that front. The weather is glorious though!

Such truth! Fall smells so, so good, doesn't it. Fresh and crisp and cozy all at once.

just brilliant. I've been snuggling my children when they come in from outside just so I can smell autumn.
