The professor says that it could still be a month before he actually lays the new floors as there is quite a bit of prep work for him to do to the foundation. Considering we've been living on that yucky, old blue carpet for five years, a month on concrete isn't so bad.
Anon -- Yes, in the kitchen too. We'll have new carpet (not blue) put in the bedrooms.
Hello, I have concrete slab envy. My hubby, with my naive blessing, ripped up the carpet and the plywood underlayment and we walked on the 30 yr old construction boards (not sure of the technical name) for nearly a year until the cold weather and my hysteria about rodents possibly moving in resulted in new plywood and flooring finally being installed. What an adventure! I would have given anything for a solid concrete slab during those months of worry. New flooring is worth the "temporary" state of affairs. I hope your situation is much more temporary than ours was :)
LOVE the floor art! :) And I hope the boys are having fun on them! I remember when our basement flooded and my parents ripped out all the carpet. My sister and I turned it into a roller skating rink (and put a hole in the wall, but we moved the dehumidifier so Mom and Dad wouldn't see! - which worked for about three days.)
linking art&faith in postmodern world, what a great piece! One reason I got out of Christian publishing...everything was a re-tread of the culture, instead of leading the way.
Anon -- We plan to carpet the bedrooms first so the furniture will come out of those rooms and into the main part of the house when the carpet goes down.
The professor plans to install the hardwood floors himself and will do it in stages. All of the furniture will not have to be moved out all at once but things will have to be shifted from one room to another as he works.
How exciting! I'm hoping for wood floors someday! Have you seen the trends in staining concrete floors? Beautiful but not for me. Can't wait to see pics of your new floor....when it arrives!

We lived on subfloor and old carpet pad for a couple of weeks. Horrid, but worth it. Can't wait to see your new floors.

How exciting!
Will you have to move all of your furniture out to have the floors laid down? We had to move all of our furniture into a pod.

Oh, yippee, yippee, yippee! I'm soooo excited for you!
I'm just glad the first photo isn't mold! It has been years since we renovated something. I sort of miss it. I think.
