The Moments He Gives

Old Man Winter seems to have taken a vacation... lately, we've had the most wonderful foretaste of mild spring weather. I've been throwing the windows wide open to let the fresh air in and we've been living outdoors as much as possible. This afternoon the children and I took a cookie picnic to the creek and then we picked daffodils on the walk toward home. February, with its Spring teases, is one of my most favorite months.
I'm happy to be meeting you here once again. My time away last week was refreshing... a much needed sabbath rest, if you will. Of course, the demands of life didn't relent {in fact, things have been crazier than normal} but God was gracious to give me some gentle, quiet moments last week.
Lately, the professor and I have been examining areas of our lives where we've slowly and unintentionally built up towers of obligations and expectations that we can't maintain. As a result, we're doing a bit of personal deconstructing and some restructuring in order to simplify. I've been praying and thinking a lot about what blogging should look like for me in this season of life and, by God's grace, I'm finding some direction.
Life is demanding at this stage, but, as God gives me moments, I look forward to continuing this little record of His beautiful gifts and this journal of our family's good time moments. I so appreciate each of you who faithfully visit here; many of you offer such kind and encouraging words. Thank you, my friends, for making me smile and for understanding that the rhythm and demands of life are constantly changing. As God gives me the moments, I look forward to visiting you too.

You are so wise to do it now.
I too am so thankful for the delightful "spring-ish" weather! We both have mentioned more than once that while we miss hearing your "voice" in the comments and through your posts that we greatly respect your being intentional with your time and energy. I pray that God will continue to direct your paths and clarify for you both what is important right now and in each day. Kelly
It's wonderful that you (and the Professor) have that self-reflection, and awareness of what you need to be spending time on in life.
Foremost, I hope you determine what is very best for you. Secondarily, and perhaps selfishly, I do hope you continue your blog in some way. It always brings a gentle reminder of Spirit, and has many times provided comfort to me when I am having a difficult time (for example, tonight actually! I am away from my husband at a conference, and boy was it nice to have a familiar, kind and inspired post from you to read! :))
Best wishes in finding what's truly best for you. And thank you so much for all that you share. :)MJS
It's good and healthy to record your thankfulness in this way. I love your posts of reflection and gratefulness!
Can't believe you have daffodils!
We had sleet all day! Brrrr.
You are inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing your positive outlook through your beautiful family and the simple moments. God bless!
So glad you had some good "rest," if you will - even though life is busy, busy. :) Praying for you.
I'm glad you benefited from your break. It's so good to do a stocktake and make sure we are following well.
And I can tell you where Old Man Winter's got to - he's turned up in lower Australia. We are not amused...
oh Christian. Glad you're here - going to be here for a while.
You are so wise to examine your life like this with your husband! I admire that and am inspired too. Late winter always makes me want to pare down and refocus.
We had spring for a day and now, I'm typing because my morning got derailed by snow and there's no rush to get out the door!
A spring picnic - I'm jealous! It hit about 50 degrees here last week, which is typical for our February thaw. Sunday night, though, winter was back with a vengence. We got about another 6-8 inches of snow between Sunday and Monday!
It's funny how we are so quick to turn things we enjoy into things that are obligatory. May we have discernment in the deconstructing/reconstructing each of us must undergo.
Ahh, a lovely sebatical in the Spring-like weather ... I am happy for you (and a little envious). I hope you find ways to simplify your life and keep thanking the Lord for His many blessings.
Such an important thing to do from time to time. We, too, need opportunities to reevaluate commitments and step forward with intention.
I'm so pleased to hear you are getting a taste of spring! Please enjoy it for me! It's blucky as all get-out here and we're being threatened with a snow storm in the next couple days. Time to go stock up with groceries!
Glad to have you back.
I'm glad winter is taking a vacation from your area. Even at my age, I feel the need to evaluate my activities and take a break from them from time to time. I'm glad you have been able to enjoy these unexpected moments that God gives you...they are a gift.
