After the Wedding

We didn't wake up before dawn to watch the royal wedding, but, I confess, we did jump on the computer first thing this morning to take in the highlights.

I confess I taped it and turned it on first thing this morning and the boys watched a little of it with me. I thought it was beautiful.

Anna -- As the family's royal family enthusiast (and owner of the Princess Diana paperdolls) I knew you would be watching. I agree, it was beautiful. I couldn't help smiling this morning when I saw Catherine's dress... the lace overlay was so similar to what your own bridesmaids wore!

I got up 45 minutes early and caught the 2nd half. It was lovely and fun to see something happy on the news!

I, too, looked at some highlights in the morning. Dan and I both have bad colds right now, and he couldn't sleep at all that night and ended up flipping on the tv and watching a bunch of it. He said the sermon was actually pretty good :)

Glad to know there are a few folks with a heart for the royal family. I think maybe we need the good news that comes with a wedding, the hopeful news, a welcome reprieve from the ordinary and the tragedy-locally and globally. Hope is powerful.

Confession: Oh, how I felt a stab of envy that you have a Diana paperdoll book, Little Sister is so, so lucky!

merlin -- It's my sister, Anna, that is/was(?) the proud owner of Princess Diana paper dolls. Anna has always been the doll lover in our family.

Which highlights were your favorites? The dress, to be sure, right?!

Did I tell you this already? I had been in Illinois for 11 days with my mom during her knee replacement surgery on April 26th. I had been sleeping on a cot in her apartment in the retirement center. Two days after the surgery the phone rings at 4:00AM. It is dark and I am confused, then scared. Caller ID is Delnor Hospital. My heart is pounding, but then I hear my mom's familiar voice, "Are you watching the wedding?". I'm pretty sure I lost a good ten years of my life that morning. My adrenaline keep me up through the whole thing. (-:
