Margo -- Mouse Soup is very much a beginner reader's book. I think our library has it classified as a level 2 book, which is perfect for my first grader to read aloud to his brother. It was written by the same author who wrote the Frog and Toad books, if you are familiar with those. I expect that your children are already at a listening comprehension level that is higher than this book, just as Tukes is, but they could still enjoy it. Definitely keep it in mind for when your daughter starts reading on her own.

oh, sibling moments like that are The Best. I expect more as kids get older. . .
And I will have to look up that book at the libary - we haven't come across it, but I like your taste in books in general :)
